Ironstone Software Pty Ltd has put a lot of effort into building a green business. At last count we had achieved more than a carbon neutral status, and had become
Carbon Positive.
How did we achieve this?
Solar Power
We have invested in Solar Panels placed on the office roof.
These panels feed back into the grid and on most days produce an excess of power.
100% Green Power
Although we have invested in Solar Panels, they don't always produce the required amount of power.
To cover this shortcoming we have signed up for 100% Green Power with Integral Energy.
This means that any excess power needed to run the office is Green Power.
Offsite Power
We use offsite servers to host our services and for storage.
To ensure that these servers are carbon neutral, we use carbon offsets to cover the power used.
Paper Less Office
As much as possible we have a paperless office. Emails are not printed and documents are read online.
So far we use about 1 ream of paper per year, and this paper is recycled paper.
Planting Trees
The office is situated on 8.5 acres in the Blue Mountains. We have planted over 100 trees on the property to further ensure that we are carbon positive.
Travel Miles
The office is a home office, and so there is no daily commute to build up travel miles. When travel is required public transport is used and if required carbon offsets are purchased.
Tank Water
The office uses 100% tank water to supply the kitchen and toilets. We have turned the water meter off at the street!
What does this mean for your?
Any projects undertaken are 100% Carbon Neutral from our end!
Certification
We have undergone an in house audit of our

footprint and we are happy with the process and the results.
We are also looking into getting an official certification to authenticate our green credentials.
